Who we are...

Ledy Pa Records (pronounced "Ledee Pay") is the creation of Mike & Jim Nickras. Founded in 1993, the purpose of this label has been to release, with some level of professionalism, the recorded creations of the two bands: Nirass and Stü Art.

Though neither performed publicly, both adopted a "live in the studio" approach to recording and performance. All music and lyrics are original. And, no one has been paid for what they do... music for the sake of music; tangibles for the fun of it.

In 2005, the label expanded its presence with the release of non-music material.

James Nickras (Nirass, Stü Art)

born: December 12, 1978
music sounds: Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, Super Furry Animals

Jim served as percussionist and vocalist in Nirass for the band's only recording: First Album. Then, as a member of Stü Art, Jim assumed the leadership role of vocalist and guitarist, and has gradually become the primary songwriting voice for the band.

Jim studied English at the University of Akron and obtained an MLIS from Kent State University. He currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio.

Michael Nickras (Nirass, Stü Art)

born: June 20, 1977
favorite musical sounds: Hüsker Dü, Guided by Voices, The Chills, The Replacements, Thistle, Mink

Mike was a keyboardist/vocalist in Nirass and continues to fill a similar role as a member of Stü Art. Beyond the music aspect of both bands, Mike has been the primary architect of the other elements of Ledy Pa Records (album production, web site creation, etc.).

Mike completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics at Wright State University. He currently resides in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Annie Nickras (Nirass)

born: March 9, 1978

Playing guitar and performing as vocalist, Annie was one of the primary influences on the creation and sound of Nirass.

Beau Casio (Stü Art)

born: sometime in the early 80's

Beau is not a real person. Beau has functioned as the 3rd "member" of Stü Art since its inception in 1994 and has created all drum-like sounds on the band's recordings.

Eleanor Nickras (contributor)

formerly: Eleanor Ferguson

born: July 3, 1979

Eleanor has been a member of the Ledy Pa Records community since 2000 and has assisted in the creation of this web site and in album production and design. Most recently, Eleanor has been evaluating the label's releases as a "resident critic." This work is summarized in the Reviews section.

Eleanor studied music at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts and music education at the University of Akron.
